BXL-architecten

Started in 2007 as a multidisciplinary architecture and design office, BXL-architecten works on different scale levels (from interior and industrial design to architecture and urbanism). The crossbreeding between these different scale levels creates a base for specific and unique projects. In order to reach this, the office will always (re)define the ambition of the project and challenge itself and the client with new approaches in order to create a solid design context.

Whether it is the creation of a piece of furniture, an interior, a house or a masterplan, each project is approached in a project-specific way. A constant project-ambition-check between designer and client defines the strong conceptual base for a realizable high quality project.

Tom Jonckers (°1978, Leuven) architect – urbanist

Tom Jonckers establishes the multidisciplinary architecture and design office BXL-architecten in 2007. He graduated as an architect in 2001 at the Sint-Lucas architecture institute in Brussels (Belgium) and finished his studies as a master in urban planning and design at the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) in 2003.

After graduating in Eindhoven, he starts as an architect and designer with Maxwan architects and urbanists in Rotterdam (2003-2005) and continued working as an architect and designer with B-architecten in Antwerpen (2005-2007).

During that time he participates (under his own name) in various design and architecture competitions (1st prize ‘inside the bathroom' competition in Milan (2003), honorable mention ‘teenage-furniture‘ competition in Milan (2005), honorable mention ‘NPHK observation tower' competition (2006), 2nd place I-merge office competition (2006), …), establishing an international design reputation and acquiring new projects.

With the increasing number of projects, he starts his own architecture and design office in 2007.
